- Probably the phone line. It's not unusual for folks to get less than 28.8
- Kbps connections, let alone 33.6 Kbps, with their V.34 modems. For
- example, one technology sometimes used by local exchange carriers, SLC-96
- (subscriber loop carrier), especially if configured at 56 Kbps, will
- reduce the maximum connection baud rate. Ask your phone company to check
- out your line. But, be very nice to them. They don't guarantee their
- lines will support high speed modems. And let us know how things work
- out.
